Ever wondered what went into creating the awesomeness that is Spore? Now experience it first hand!
Making games--even the bad ones--is hard work. So how much work went into Spore? Don't take anyone's word for it--you can find out for yourself. To add to all the hype surrounding the game (and it's working), EA has now released all the game's "prototypes"--technologies that the team experimented with while developing the game. You can download them from the site, and watch the evolution (pun completely intended) of Spore yourself.
For one, there's Gaslight, which simulates "stochastic, self-propagating star formation (SSPSF)"--the creation of stars, planets and universes.
If you want to see how the game's oceans behave, take a look at Waterboy, which recreates large water bodies for your splashing pleasure, and you can watch the development of cities using Crowd, the SimCity 4 prototype.
All the prototypes are free for download, and we like that. Even though we know that it's a move to feed into the hype, we don't mind, because it'll let us see what went into the game, and will make watching the outcome on Monday even more fun.
