The talk of next generation of gadgets doing rounds -- expect more action in the Portable Media Player market
The year old iPod vs Zune Portable Media Player war is going to spark-up again. Last week, Kevin Rose teased Apple fans with next generation iPod Nano photos on his site. Close on the heels, photos of new iPod Touch (2nd generation) were leaked in a BestBuy Ad. However, we are skeptical about the recency of those images.
The iPhone OS 2.1 beta firmware contained references to iPod 2.1 while the current iPod Touch refers to 1.1 version. May be it's just in our head, but like slimmer and lighter iPhone 3G, next generation iPod Touch can be expected in near future.
An FCC filing found by -- I Started Something -- revealed more details about Microsoft Zune's upcoming 120GB version.
Yesterday, a Canadian citizen got hold of a 16GB and 120GB Zune players and same was reported at Zunited forums two days back. This ain't any Photoshop work but looks pictures were taken from a cellphone as they lok a little blur.
Though, the details of new Zune are not available all we know so far is that its got some glossy finish. But we do hope that the new Zune player will come with a better software version and also attractive pricing.
The Zune 120GB version is more likely to challenge iPod classic 80GB and 160GB versions.
Not much buzz was heard about Zune in Indian continent as compared to the iPod Touch. Fact still remains the same that people are willing to buy portable media players with larger storage capacity. What they really aspire is something phenomenal like 80GB or 160GB iPod Touch. Fairly possible since the storage technologies are doing wonders today and the wait will be worth.
