Upcoming Atom-based MID boosts of features that will give BlackBerry run for its money
Wibrain, the maker of UMPC "B1", has finally unveiled its much hyped upcoming Atom-based MID (mobile internet device), the i1, at IFA in Berlin.
As several reports across the Internet suggest, the i1 is going to be powered up with either a 1.1GHz or 1.3GHz Atom processor. It will have 1GB of RAM, a 30GB or 60GB hard drive, or 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB SSD (no 64GB option, it seems). For connectivity, rumors suggest that the i1 will feature tri-band UMTS / HSDPA and quad-band GPRS / EDGE connectivity.
Interestingly, however we're not sure if it's true, Engadget suggests that as a marketing stunt, the Wibrain people are promoting their yet-to-be launched phone as a 'BlackBerry killer', for the i1's literature pamphlets read, "Sorry, Blackberry. We provide you a real free mobile life - full browsing internet plus the complete functionality of Outlook, of course all MS Office documentation anytime, anywhere".
There's no news about the i1's pricing or availability.
