A leaked patent hints at what might be a Mac Tablet to come
Apple has already hinted at a new product unveiling through its quarterly call to investors. And now we have this: A patent filing that gave details about Apple's next-gen multi-touch techniques for what is seemingly a Mac tablet; discovered by AppleInsider. The filing shows how such a multitouch interface will work on a Mac OS X-based system. The screen shows full QWERTY style keyboard, a pop-up scroll wheel, and windows that can be resized and moved.
Further, iPhone-like scrolling through a contact-list could also be incorporated, as could a fuller version of iTunes, with the content flow finger-controlled. A full-sized QWERTY keyboard is also seen simulated on the multi-touchscreen while working with word processors or for typing. Also seen is a virtual scroll wheel which may be displayed while using iTunes -- this scroll wheel appears when one or two fingers are placed on predefined areas on the display.
Could something of this nature be announced at the September event?
Note that a third-party tablet mod is already available: the Axiotron ModBook. While this is just a patent filing -- and many such patents get announced but few see implementation -- everyone is eagerly anticipating a tablet solution from Apple.
