Do you have a bundle of VHS tapes gathering dust on the top of your cupboard be? Can you imagine a new model of a VHS player witnessing the light of day in this age of high-quality video formats?

If Engadget is to be believed, Panasonic has announced a combo device that plays the VHS and Blu-ray format. Called the DMR-BR30V, the player comes with a 320GB hard disk, digital and analog TV tuners, a USB port, as well as an SD card slot.

Along with the combo player, the company has announced three other media players which do not support VHS, but come with hard disks of different sizes.

Here's the interesting part - these products will only be available in Japan to begin with. While there's no clarity on the timeline, the DMR-BR30V is expected to cost somewhere around $1500.
