Olympus has unveiled two Stylus (SW) series digital cameras with 1050 SW and 1040 SW for extreme conditions following their Stylus 1030 SW released in April this year. The Stylus 1030 SW was a shockproof, crushproof, freeze-proof and waterproof model. The new Stylus 1050 SW is its refreshed version sharing similar features - 10.1 megapixel sensor, 5 feet shockproof, 3m waterproof and 14 degree Fahrenheit freeze-proof, with an accelerometer that enables button-free tap-control.

The accelerometer has a unique tap interface on top, back or sides for motion-driven tap control. On the other hand, the Stylus 1040 SW is slimmest (16.5mm) in SW series box-type cam that offers 10.1 megapixel point-and-shoot feature with 3x optical zoom, panoramic photo stitching in the camera, smile detection that clicks up to three shots in succession and a 2.7 inch LCD screen at the back.

The Stylus 1050 SW is priced at $300, and the 1040 SW at $200. Both models are expected to be available in October.

The 1040 is not in the SW series. It is not shockproof or waterproof.
