It looks like Microsoft hasn't forgotten us PC gamers. It has unveiled a gaming mouse and a gaming keyboard in its Sidewinder series
Gone are the days when a majority of people used fat, bulbous mice to scurry across their computer screen. However, there are people who still use such mice, especially for gaming, and they'd be familiar with Microsoft's Sidewinder mouse. The software giant has unveiled two new gaming products: the newest SideWinder X5 Mouse, as well as what they call the world's first gaming keyboard, the SideWinder X6 Keyboard.
The X5 mouse is SideWinder's latest gaming mouse sycophant. This new product marks features such as nine buttons (including five customizable buttons), a 2,000DPI laser tracking engine, six DPI settings (adjustable on the fly), and a Quick-Launch button that instantly launches the Windows Vista Games Explorer.
On the other hand, with its new keyboard, Microsoft deems that SideWinder X6's "switchable" key pad makes it an ideal keyboard for gaming as well as productivity.
According to Microsoft, the X6's keypad works as a standard num pad in normal keyboard mode, and transforms into a programmable macro pad in game mode. The keyboard has features specifically designed for gaming, including the capacity to store up to 90 macros per game and backlighting that helps users get immersed in the game in the dark.
Other gaming features include New Cruise Control, an in-game macro record button, WASD gaming keys, and the Quick-Launch key.
The SideWinder X5 Mouse and SideWinder X6 Keyboard are expected to be widely available in September 2008 for approximately USD 59.95 (Rs. 2,600), and USD 79.95 (Rs. 3,500) respectively. Both the products will be backed by a 3-year warranty.
