A new PSP model was announced, with an LCD that should eliminate screen ghosting, and offer better colours and contrast ratio
Sony unveiled a new version of its portable system -- the PlayStation Portable-3000. The new model has seemingly fixed an old complaint with the PSP console -- that of ghosting. The PSP-3000 will sport an LCD panel which has an anti-reflection technology (which should improve outdoor viewing) and more: color gamut is twice as wide, contrast ratio has improved by a factor of five, and the response time has doubled. That last feature should rid us of ghosting for good. Be gone foul spirit!
Apart from the improved LCD screen, the PSP-3000 will also feature a PS button and a built-in microphone. Also changed is the video-out feature of the PSP which will now output games in interlace format, allowing users to enjoy games on non-progressive TVs. Note that cables for using this feature are sold seperately.
The PSP-3000 is expected to arrive sometime in October.
