The Big Guys have announced cross-compatibility for music peripherals across music games
Hear ye, hear ye -- this is major news for all Guitar Hero and Rock Band rock stars. Sony and Microsoft have confirmed cross-compatibility of music peripherals for their music game titles. Michael Shorrock, Director of Publisher Relations, Sony Computers, posted on the official PlayStation blog that the music peripherals will extend their compatibility across titles -- this implies cross-compatibility between Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour, Rock Revolution and Sing Star.
At E3 2008, Neversoft announced non-RedOctane peripherals could be usable with Guitar Hero: World Tour from the rival Rock Band. Sony had been working with Neversoft-Activision and Harmonix-Konami for PS3 music peripheral compatibility the past few months.
So here's the rocking combo:
Rock Revolution's drum set will work with Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock band 2
Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock band 2 will support SingStar microphones
Guitar Hero: World Tour's guitars and drums will be compatible with Rock Band 2 and Rock Revolution
Microsoft swiftly joined the jam with a similar compatibility confirmation on upcoming games from MTV Games, Activision, and Konami.
Sony in turn will try to bring the same cross-compatibility promised for future titles, to current titles: "we hope to have an announcement on that shortly", Michael Shorrock posted.
