    Reliance ADA Group has entered the DTH business in the country with its DTH venture Big TV, which promises to bring 200 channels to customers in the initial phase.

Reliance ADA Group has entered the DTH business with the launch of its Direct to Home (DTH) TV venture Big TV in the country. Reliance Big TV DTH service promises to offer 200 channels to its customers in the initial phase.

With this DTH service, Reliance is planning to capture 40% of the market in the very first year. To achieve this target, the company will take advantage and promote the service through its other businesses including Reliance Mobile, Reliance Energy, Reliance Insurance and more by providing them with segmented offers.
As a launch offer, the company is offering the service for Rs. 1490, which includes a set-top box and 3 months' free unlimited access to an exclusive BIG Cinema monthly subscription pack of 20 movie channels and 120 movies.

In addition there are other subscription offers for Rs 2490, Rs 3990 and Rs 4990. With the Rs 2490 subscription, customers get 3 months' free premium pack offering 146 channels including World Movies, Zee Studio, Ten Sports and ESPN Star Sports or 6-month free popular pack offering 133 channels, The Rs 3990 includes free subscription of the premium pack for a year. The Rs 4990 subscription packs 158 channels on offer here. Moreover, customers are allowed to create their own pack of channels, which the company calls "pizza pricing", reports IndianTelevision.

This DTH service from Reliance will be competing with other players including Tata Sky, Dish TV, Prasar Bharati's DD direct and Sun TV DTH.

During the launch of the DTH service, Reliance also said that it plans to launch its IPTV service this year. For the IPTV software, the company has struck a deal with Microsoft for $500 million licensing fee.
