The future of MMOs is looking good; it's the most profitable money making venture and seems to be growing year after year. It isn't easy to manage millions of accounts and to provide fresh content to the loyal consumers, but some companies manage to do it and make a billion dollars a year in revenue (I'm looking at World of Warcraft). Then there are games that offer only DeathMatch or Capture The Flag yet manage to engross millions of players without the long term bondage of an MMO. The point is that the days of Single Player games are numbered; MMOs and Multiplayer gaming are taking over. There are still a select few that manage to sell a few million copies only on their story mode, but they have to be top class genre-defining games like Bioshock. This time I am listing a few console games that will be ruling the Multiplayer space in the coming months. Sony has announced quite a few online properties, so there are a few PS3 exclusives in the list, but the Xbox is matching quantity with quality, check it out.

You know that a game means business when it is called Massive Action Game (working title). This massive action game was first shown at this year's E3 and will support 256 player battles simultaneously. The game is being developed by Zipper Interactive, the guys behind Socom and will utilize superior server architecture. The idea will be to distribute players into smaller battles with a 8 member squad. There will be two sides and one leader who will direct the battle. The idea seems similar to Savage, but we can't comment on it till we see some gameplay footage. The idea sounds brilliant but will it be able to sustain 256 player and yet manage playable pings is a mystery. Let's hope for the best. In the meanwhile checkout the video below.
