CNN spoiled it all by giving away the details of Michael Phelps' record winning streak on Twitter few hours before the event was aired
Right now, the media all over the world is busy covering Michael Phelps being tagged as 'the greatest Olympian ever', who has won 8 gold medals in Bejing Olympics. But CNN spoiled it all by giving away the details on Twitter few hours before the event was aired.
This year the Olympic events are not scheduled during NBC's primetime coverage. So, they are aired few hours after events actually take place. Taking advantage of this, CNN posted the results of Phelps race on their Twitter account dubbed 'cnnbrk'. This resulted in onslaught of criticism and outrage towards CNN.
In response CNN had this to say, "Admin: wrt: olympics - CNN chose to tell the story of the world rec. men's 100m. it's in the world media. it's breaking news - not spoiler."
However, the account 'cnnbrk' on Twitter doesn't seem to be actually affiliated with CNN, but an unofficial account. More details on TechCrunch.
