    Scrabulous Goes Off Facebook

Pending the lawsuit with Scrabble creators Hasbro, Scrabulous has been taken off Facebook. With Hasbro ready to launch its own Scrabble application on Facebook, the lawsuit doesn't look incidental.

The latest update on the ongoing Hasbro-Scrabulous dispute is that Facebook has finally taken down the Scrabulous application. According to Facebook, the decision to block the application has been taken by the game developers themselves, reports ContentSutra.

Anyone in US and Canada who tries to open the application on Facebook is now served with a message reading "Scrabulous is disabled for U.S. and Canadian users until further notice. If you would like to stay informed about developments in this matter, please click here." The click here link leads you to a form from the game founder asking you to leave your email id for further updates on the matter.

In the midst of all this, EA launched the "officially sanctioned" Scrabble game on Facebook on the same day when Hasbro filed the lawsuits against Scrabulous developers based in India. The timing of the launch doesn't seem to a mere coincidence. The lawsuit against Scrabulous was a well-planned move, writes TechCrunch.

Throughout the issue, Facebook has refrained from taking either side. For more on the Hasbro-Scrabulous dispute, see this story.

I tried the official scrabble game through Facebook and found it noisy, too flashy, too dark and very old fashioned. Scrabulous is easier on the eye and easier to use.
