Performance
We used DisplayMate to conduct a variety of tests ranging from Geometric Pattern tests to the color reproduction test (and everything in between).
The AOC 226Sw had no problems clearing the Geometry & Distortion or the Sharpness & Resolution tests as well as the Screen Pixel Resolution tests. But as with most LCDs we've tested so far, this one too had a slight mismatch in the Horizontal Color Registration Test.
The 2216Sw reproduces color quite well with good sharpness, skin tones and saturation. The static contrast ratio of 3000:1 made its presence felt as it delivers a great contrast across all the tests we conducted.
The Eco Mode presets didn't really work out so well. I tried them while gaming and watching movies but I preferred the standard mode. Same for the dynamic color boost feature of this monitor; these 'enhancements' either made the colors unnaturally vivid or just brightened up the whole frame a little too much. These algorithms just didn't work out for the games and videos we played at the lab.
Overall, without the built-in enhancements, the AOC 2216Sw delivered good picture quality with balanced contrast and brightness across all games, applications and videos we played throughout the testing without any lag or ghosting.
The OSD too is pretty simple to use, the only problem being the size of the buttons, which is just too small.
Conclusion
The AOC 2216Sw is priced at Rs. 11,700 and comes with a 3-year warranty. The monitor gives good picture quality and is priced almost at par with the other manufacturers.
The only problem is that it has only one input and that too is a VGA (D- Sub). So, it's a trade off between quality pictures and multiple input ports. In case you plan to use this at home on a single system, I'd suggest you go for it. If you want to run multiple computers on a single monitor without too much of a hassle, I'd say go for one of the Viewsonic or Samsung models that offer multiple inputs.
If you need an HDMI input for the monitor, the Dell SP2208WFP and the BenQ X2200W are also options you could consider.
Again, if it's just a single computer you plan to use at home for office work and entertainment, this is a good choice.
