    iomega ScreenPlay HD Multimedia Drive

Aniket Kadam, Jul 17, 2008 1315 hrs IST

An external hard drive that can play your videos in HD! Or can it?

Large storage space, Sturdy casing, Doesn't overheat, upscales video to HD.

Limited format support, Doesn't play true HD, Basic interface.

Put away those clunky DVD players and excessively large external storage drives for the iomega ScreenPlay HD Multimedia Drive is here! This latest external hard drive from iomega comes with 500GB of space but unfortunately, contrary to its claim, the drive can't play true HD. However,it upscales normal videos to 780 or 1080p.

This is a relatively new category of media device, there certainly have been multimedia drives before, but this is among the few that can play HD.

Bundle

iomega ScreenPlay HD Multimedia Drive
Remote control
Power supply
USB cable
Composite video cable
Component video cable
Software CD
Manual

Very nice indeed but they lack a power connector suitable for Indian sockets.

I have one of this , Perfect for a me & those who like to store tons of movies/pictures/songs in one location. Major advantage is it has a HDMI connection. The Asia version comes with a Indian power cord if not also converter is max 20-50 Rs...To get True HD performance use a HDMI cable. My max use is for MP3,WMA, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB), MPEG-4 (AVI/DiVX/XViD) and JPEG. Connectivity to TV - Component (yPbPr),Composite, SCART, SPDIF, HDMI... What else. All this at 9500 Rs. I found it really helpfull.
