You'd rather have it in your office than your home

Saves a lot of space, good build, Supports 720p resolution, Good cost saving option when buying in numbers.

Dynamic contrast adjustments not up to the mark, slight mismatch in the HCR test, Pricey.

I've always had a belief that if you're going for an LCD monitor, you'd rather go for the biggest one you can afford (and make space for). So, it did come as a surprise that manufacturers decided to launch 16-inch LCD panels as well.

So, when I received a tiny little box from Viewsonic claiming to hold a 16-inch LCD monitor inside, curiosity got the better of me and thence began a session of hardcore tests, gaming and err...movies. Here's what I think.

The Monitor

Sporting the usual matte black and silver paint job in the front, the Viewsonic VA1616w is one of the latest additions to their Value series line-up. It looks just like a miniature version of their 19-inch version from the same series.

It sits snugly on the desktop is supported by a small and sturdy plastic stand. Four OSD buttons and a power button are placed below the screen, with the power button in the middle.

The Viewsonic VA1616w sports a 15.6-inch wide TN color anti glare TFT Active Matrix LCD that is capable of supporting a maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels (16.2 million colours). It has a response time of 8 ms with horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 100 and 90 degrees respectively.

The contrast ratio is 500:1 with a maximum brightness of 250 cd/m2 and sports a single VGA (D-Sub) port at back.

I just purchased this yesterday from a pc store here, so far I'm happy about it. it consume less space, and for the performance just exactly what I need, before I bought it I compare it with LG and Samsung, and for me they are almost the same except for the price.
