Build & Design

The Dell XPS M1730 is a monster and has a solid build quality. In the hope of reducing its weight, most part of the laptop is covered with gloss-coated carbon filter and the rest is hard plastic. This beast actually weighs just below 5 kg and it's quite an effort to move around with it.

The Dell XPS M1730, with all of its weight and size is also swanky. It's got LED lights all over it and sharp XPS logos, which show that it breathes fire. With almost Alienware like feel to the laptop, Dell has chose to showcase its powerful, rather than subtle Alienware.

The left side of the laptop houses most of its connectors. You have a DVI instead of a D-sub and an S-Video port as well. There is a USB port, a mini FireWire port, and the flash card reader placed in line, one after the other. The laptops Dual-DVD drive is also fitted on this side and still has space to house three audio connectors that can be combined to provide music inputs to even 5.1 speakers.
