Leaked images of the AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 are out and about on the interweb. From preliminary reports it seems that AMD/ATI have created something truly special in the RV770 chip. The cards based on the R700 -- the HD 4850 and the HD 4870 have both displayed exceptional performance, especially when considered in light of their price. The price/performance ratio of these cards makes them a great deal in the graphics card segment.

AMD/ATI will also offer a Crossfire configuration on a single card, this would be the AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2. At less than the price of an NVIDIA GeForce GT280, this dual-chip monster is expected to perform as well, if not better than the GT280. The 4870 X2 will come with 2GB of memory, GDDR5 at that -- note that GDDR5 is said to offer about 80% more bandwidth than GDDR3.

These cards pack plenty of theoretical punch. Stay tuned for our review of these cards, when we find out if they truly deliver. Meanwhile, here's a peek at the HD 4870 X2:

You guys are unbelievable .... at least give credit to the source you got the info from ... OR remove the watermark from the pics ... get professional guys..... anyway it hasn't happened in 4 years .... why should we expect anything new from TechTree
