Opera 9.5 final build is now available. Downloadable from the Opera website for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, the browser is accessible in 30 different languages.
It was only yesterday that we reported about the Opera 9.5 release candidate, and today the company has released the Opera 9.5 final build for public. Downloadable from the Opera website for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, the browser is available in 30 different languages.
The company claims that this new version is optimized for speedy and stable performance. Some new and improved features of the browser include Quick Find and Opera Link, where Quick Find allows searching any word on any Web page from the browsing history by feeding it in the address bar. With Opera Link, users can synchronize and view the bookmarks from different Opera versions on different devices.
Opera's new look and feel portrays polished, simpler, and cleaner interface. Also, the company claims better security with a 'Fraud Protection' feature that offers phishing protection and prevents anti-malware injection from blacklisted sites prepared in collaboration with Haute Secure, Netcraft, and PhishTank.
Apart from the new and improved appearance and functions offered in Opera 9.5, users will be able to utilize some known features like Speed Dial, notes, the ability to save and restore browsing sessions after you close the browser, a trash can for accidentally closed tabs or e-mails, mouse gestures, and others.
Install it, use it and then get to know whether Opera has kept promises made. What next? Expect the Firefox 3 final build soon to follow since they've made it so obvious to guess.
i am with opera for 2 years, except some website rendering problem i never found any problem with Opera. and this 9.6 is justing rocking!!! cheers and hats off to opera developers
Right so I've been using Opera for 2 years now. No Complaints so far on Opera features.
v9.5 is good for "New Users" I Repeat "New USERS"!
The deal breaker for me from v9.5 is the following...
I've customized my Opera in a particular way I like...this customization has been thru v9.xx upto v9.27...I only used to select "Upgrade" option all my settings used to be there.
I upgraded to this v9.5 settings are there but the View has changed...I'm not talking about the skin or look & feel...the skin part is a good thing no probs...but the "View Bar" is out of the picture by default! Deal-Breaker no.1 right there.
Forget that I could live with that but the biggest disappointment whats up with the "SYSTEM TRAY" icon Opera?
That pathetic thing just won't disappear I looked at all settings etc. etc...the only way to disable is it thru "Windows Taskbar settings" gotta hide it from there? Absolutely crazy!...oh & when Opera crashes there's 2 icons in the system tray unless you hover your mouse pointer on one of the icons to make it disappear!
And what's this you remove v9.5 then install 9.27 the version 9.27 won't start! All my bookmarks & settings were lost...I couldn't revert back to v9.27! Thank God for Vista Shadow Copy feature! that really saved me from tearing my hair off & grabbing on my b-alls LOL!
So Opera I congratulate you on hitting the market before FireFox but get rid of that damn TRAY ICON for me to upgrade!
I've gone back to v9.27 coz of that TRAY ICON crap..I don't care for a couple of added beneifits I Want Things My Way I'm using "Win-doze" after all not a "Mac"! lol no offence Mac boys & girls
Dear friends. While i am writing that text I have nearly and half an hour opera on my computer. I can tell you that I am really happy with it. That is until now my inpression
cheers
Opera used to be my browser of choice until Firefox came along. I still like it a lot and will certainly download v.9.5 but have gotten so dependant on so many extensions in FF that it would now be almost impossible to switch back. Still, one has to salute their innovation - and healthy competition is always good.
