Gigabyte has announced their new lineup of Intel P45 chipset based motherboards. The company claims that these feature the highest quality ultra durable components, ultra cool thermal performance, Dynamic Energy Saver (DES) advanced technology for ultra power efficiency, and offer the latest ultra secure features that include onboard Trusted Platform Module (TPM), and Smart Backup with plug and play hardware RAID.

Based on the new Intel P45 chipset, the two new motherboards -- EP45-DQ6 and EP45-DS3R -- promise to deliver support for 1600MHz Front Side Bus for the latest Intel Core 2 multi-core processors, including 45nm Penryn and Yorkfield CPUs.

Supporting either dual channel DDR3 memory up to 1900MHz, or DDR2 up to 1200MHz, the motherboards come equipped to support ATI CrossFireX Technology with dual PCI Express 2.0 x8 interfaces. These claim to deliver double the PCI Express bandwidth of 5 Gbit/s for the ultimate in extreme gaming performance.

According to the company, the DES advanced technology for ultra power efficiency features improved algorithms that provide a more accurate power saving calculation, thus resulting in better energy saving capabilities and enhanced system performance.

While with the built-in TPM chip, the motherboards provides TPM hardware-based encryption and decryption with digital signature keys to ensure a maximum level of data protection with 2048 bit encryption, says Gigabyte.

The Smart Backup allows users to connect up to 4 Serial ATA devices for effortless RAID data protection, the company claims. The motherboards feature 2 physical BIOS ROMs integrated onboard. This DualBIOS allows quick and seamless recovery from BIOS damage or failure due to viruses or improper BIOS updating.

In addition, the motherboards provide support for 4 Gigabit LAN with teaming functionality. The GA-EP45-DQ6 motherboard allows 4 single LAN connections to act as 1 single connection for four times the bandwidth, improving overall throughput with lower CPU utilization, alleges Gigabyte.

The other features include built-in high-definition 7.1 channel Realtek ALC889A sound chip and Dolby Home Theater suite of audio technologies.

The Gigabyte EP45-DQ6 is priced at Rs.19500, while the EP45-DS3R is priced at Rs.12375.

Nonsense...these new boards with this so called "TPM" are utter rubbish. The music/movie/game industry has gotten so greedy that they can't stop users from copying content so this built-in chip with these motherboards will block it. First they couldn't suceed by forcing Microsoft to implement DRM in Vista, then came DRM'ed Blu-Ray, HD-DVD discs...all to no avail. so not they attack diretcly the motherboard! I say boycott these new motherboards with "TPM" chip don't buy them at all!
