Google Replies to Viacom's $1 Billion Lawsuit

YouTube's owner Google has filed its response to the $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit by Viacom.
Google says that that it follows the rules of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's (DMCA) notice-and-takedown procedure; it does everything it can possibly do to stop the sharing of any copyrighted content that it is alerted about, and Viacom's claims that Google not doing anything about the issue in the same light are clearly incorrect.
The company's legal team also maintains that YouTube had adhered to the requirements of the 1998 DMCA and that Google has properly responded to claims of infringement.
Viacom argues that it has identified at least 1, 50,000 unauthorized clips on YouTube for shows like MTV unplugged, South Park, and many more. The company says the infringement also includes the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" which had been viewed for a close to 1.5 billion times.
Google's lawyers refuted Viacom's claims and said that the action threatens the way hundreds of millions of people legitimately exchange information over the Internet.
