Design and Construction
At first sight, the Sandisk Sansa View might be dashed off as a cell phone rather than a media player; it's actually a bit longer than current-generation media player models. Its top is clad in a piano black finish (similar to the Creative Zen) with a glass covering, which makes it susceptible to fingerprints, while the back has a slightly rubberized feel for better grip. Overall, the player looks pretty elegant.
It is long; however, when it comes to thickness, it's comparatively slim. The vertical real estate is more-than-the-usual due to the adjacent display and the navigation wheel. The display is well-sized and pretty bright. It's good for reading text and watching videos.

The mechanical navigation wheel won my heart instantly. The tactility that it offers is superior to the iPod's touch-based wheel. It can also be clicked at its sides and has a center button. The UI is entirely controlled using this wheel and the "Home" button next to it. On a darker note, unlike the iPod, it has no acceleration when it comes to scrolling through a long list.
