AOL has introduced a new IM client based on Adobe's Flash technology.

The new client gives a few features the miss, which AOL claims will be added in subsequent betas, with the final download-able version expected later this year.

What is inoperable in the new client is the IM forwarding and the ability to see buddy icons. Also: accessibility functions along with the ability to change status to 'away' when signed-in from a different location.

The major difference is: previous versions required Java to operate while AOL's newest IM client is based on Adobe's Flash technology. The application is capable of working with most versions of Adobe Flash 9 though AOL recommends users upgrade to the latest build (for Windows, 9.0.124.0).
