This is just a concept at the moment but a promising possible solution to an age-old problem

The Solarial blimp is an unmanned airship designed for disaster relief. A blimp is 20m long and is covered with thin film solar cells. Its large area makes up for the inefficiency of the cells. It could be flown autonomously to affected locations to provide a clean, renewable source of electricity as well as a bit of shade.

Communication hardware could also be deployed along with it, to maintain contact with devastated areas. This is just a concept at the moment, an industrial design thesis by Andrew Leinonen. However, it is a promising possible solution to an age-old problem. Credit:Pulltheskydown
