Build & Design

The LG KF600 is a beauty of a handset. At first glance, it looks impressive. The chrome edge and the mirror glass face give it a great look. The face consists of two screens -- one 2-inch and the other 1.5-inch. While the 2-inch screen is the primary screen, the 1.5-inch screen is the primarily a touch navigation of the phone which can also at times be an extension to the main screen. The extension is noticed only when the screensaver turns on, or while playing a game. There is a volume control button to the left which is basically the hotkey for starting the music player. The right side of the phone features a camera hotkey which also doubles as the unlock key when kept pressed for a few seconds. Unfortunately, however, the same key doesn't lock the handset; if you press it when the handset is unlocked, the camera will start. The headset, USB cable, and charger port are hidden behind a hard plastic dust cover. The back of the phone features the camera, and has a rubberized plastic finish which gives quite a good grip to hold the phone. The camera is located outside, and hence it's not necessary to slide open the phone to start the camera.

The slider hides the alphanumeric keypad of the phone. The keypad looks good due to its nice design. However, the keypad isn't very typing-friendly; the keys aren't tactile enough and hence typing gets quite irritating on this phone. The call drop key also doubles as the ON/OFF switch.
