Ear-canal headphones from Sennheiser promises way more than other in-earphones, but does it deliver?

Good Sound, Good Bass, Very Comfortable, Designed for use with mobile phones/MP3 players.

    Very Pricey.

Ear-canal headphones, or earplugs (as I like to address them) have gained immense popularity among music-lovers; though it doesn't necessarily mean that they are the best type that suit all. They can be great, but it totally depends on how comfortable you are using them. I find many people keeping away from them simply because they didn't fancy the idea of earphones entering their ear-canals, or because of the vacuum it creates; while others don't mind this and love the whole isolated music experience.

In the ear-canal earphones category, one of the pairs that Sennheiser offers is the CX400. It promises to provide premium sound quality and sound isolation, along with comfort in more ways.

I bought one pair of CX400 from accessories.us.dell.com last month and it costed only $35 including shiping. Now the site has raised the price to $42, which made me wonder if the one I bought is fake. Plus the pair dont sound as good as people comment.

Yeah, they are available for $32 & I bought them - they are FAKE. Nobody sells a genuine CX400 or CX500 for $32. Its like selling a BMW M3 at 15 Lakhs instead of 75. Doesn't happen. So, do what I have done & pay the proper money & get the proper product. Be it Cx400 or 500

You have mentioned that it is better than all earplugs you have used, but have you tested Creative Aurvana in-ear phones? They are available at around 4000/- but they are multi-driver design rather than single driver like cx-400 or creative own EP-630

You keep saying in the review that the earphones create a vacuum inside the ears. But that is not possible. That's because sound requires a material medium to travel and in case of earphones it uses the air between the speakers and eardrums to propagate. If it were vacuum, the sound wouldn't propagate at all and we would here nothing. All that these in-ear earphones do is create a barrier between your ears and the external world so that you do not get disturbed by the ambient noises. They don't create a vacuum. A vacuum inside the ears can totally damage the ear drums.

A bit funny this... but what you say scary, the guy who reviewed the bose earphones terms it as good design in the heading snippet
