Features
As mentioned above, the NV15 features a Schneider-branded 3x optical zoom (34 - 104mm) that allows you to focus at 4cm in the Macro mode. It has a 2.5-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 230,000 pixels.
Its 14 preset scene modes allow you to shoot in almost all kinds of conditions, both indoor and outdoor. Also featured are a Program mode, Manual mode, and an ASR mode that let you experiment a little more than you can with the regular scene modes.
Samsung's Face Detection technology detects up to nine faces and automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure better composition and image quality. White Balance (WB) settings are available as Auto, five presets, and a custom WB setting for advanced users. ISO sensitivity can be controlled automatically or manually, and ranges from ISO 80 to 3200. The new Red-eye fix algorithm automatically removes red-eye from your pictures during playback or while the shots are being taken.
The Movie mode allows you to capture clips at up to 640 x 480 pixels with audio using MPEG-4 compression; it also supports optical zoom. Using Samsung's Successive Recording mode you can pause, and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files.
The NV15 has 20 MB of inbuilt memory, and can also store images on secure digital and multimedia cards as well as the newer SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards of up to 4 GB capacity. It connects to the computer via a USB 2.0 port and is powered by a proprietary Li-ion battery.
