In February, we'd reported California-based Juice Wireless being in talks with various telcos to offer their JuiceCaster mobile social networking services in the country. Tata Teleservices seems to have clinched the deal first. The company announced last week it will offer JuiceCaster 6.0 mobile social networking services; all of its subscribers will be able to access JuiceCaster 6.0 as a downloadable application on their Windows Mobile and BREW handsets.

Subscribers of Tata Teleservices will thus be able to publish multimedia content from their camera-enabled mobile phones to any person, group, Internet Web site, or desktop.

During the launch, Pankaj Sethi, president (Value Added Services) of Tata Teleservices said that social networking services have a vibrant uptake among younger audiences in the country. Through Tata Indicom mobile handsets, their customers will now be able to remain updated and connected with their networked friends all through the day.

Till now, JuiceCaster has been available only in the US; it is best described as a mobile phone-based social networking site that allows users capture, share, and publish content instantly as also maintain rich social networking connections that includes profiles, friends lists, and so on -- all from their mobile phones. JuiceCaster also acts as a platform integrating other social networking Web sites like MySpace, Facebook, and Orkut, and offers users cross-platform content access. As regards security, the service claims to have an automated system that boasts over 1,800 words in the 'banned' category.
