Fans of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have all the more reason to smile. THQ has announced that "WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2009" is in development for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, Nintendo DS, and mobile platforms, and is expected to begin shipping to retail around September this year.
Based on a wildly popular (and addictive if one might add) TV show, the game shows signs of being equally popular if not more. The franchise continues to enchant and hook youngsters despite all the talk about put-on dramatics and scripted action.
"WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2009" will star several World Wrestling favorites including Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Randy Orton, Mr Kennedy, Undertaker, and John Cena. It will allow gamers to play as their favorite stars -- down to mimicking every move that each star is associated with or known for.
Besides the upcoming game will feature a brand new Create-A-Finisher option; a Road to WrestleMania Mode that introduces the possibility of co-op story lines; game play enhanced with downloadable content; tag team play for building momentum and other attributes; a wider range of match-type options; superstar control for interactive entrances and victory scenes; and so on.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DS version will use the handheld's stylus and D-pad while incorporating a redesigned Season Mode to allow players interact with superstars in different ways.
