After a bitter battle between Rockstar Games and UK censors, "Manhunt 2" has finally got a go ahead in UK.

In a significant development, Rockstar Games' extremely controversial title "Manhunt 2" has been unbanned and allowed to go on sale where it matters the most -- the United Kingdom (UK).

After a bitter nine-month long battle between Rockstar Games and UK censors, the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) won in the end, allowing the violent game to be sold, albeit in its current twice-edited avatar, and with an age 18 certificate to boot.

Meanwhile, "Manhunt 2" has seen it all...

The original version of the game was banned by the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC), which refused to give it any rating whatsoever thanks to the violence in it. The US Entertainment Software Rating Board (USESRB) also gave it an 'Adults Only' rating.

It was only after Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive blurred some of the really violent scenes in the game that the USESRB gave it a M or Mature rating. The BBFC though, stayed the ban even on this modified version.

However, with the latest Video Appeals Committee ruling, the game is finally going on sale in the UK. A jubilant Rockstar Games said in a statement that they are pleased that the VAC has reaffirmed its decision -- recognizing that "Manhunt 2" is well within the bounds established by other 18+ rated entertainment.

Meanwhile, the decision (which has come after a lot of strife) is quite likely to bring game ratings per say under the scanner.
