    ViewSonic VX2255wmh

22-inchers aren't considered huge any more. Here's a good model; unfortunately, there's no black version

Good build quality, supports both DVI-D and D-Sub (VGA) input ports, good picture quality, contrast, and color reproduction, on-board camera works well

No bundled DVI-D cable, mismatch in HCR test, OSD buttons too stiff

After years of having gotten used to scrolling to view an entire file -- and watching widescreen content on 17-inch, squarish monitors (or on smaller 19-inch LCD monitors) -- people here are finally waking up to the fact that a 22-inch LCD monitor isn't beyond their reach; that it's a viable proposition.

The 20- to 22-inch monitor segment, which has been lying low for a while, seems, after the recent price cuts and the Financial Budget for 08, to have finally woken up -- and getting ready to run past sales of 19-inch monitors. Today, we've reviewed the VX2255wmh, a recent addition to ViewSonic's ever-growing line of monitors.

Looks and Features
Sealed in the (Mac-ish) glossy white piano-finished body of the VX2255wmh is a 22-inch widescreen TFT Active Matrix WSXGA+ LCD that supports a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050. This is the native resolution, and you'll get the best image quality at this setting -- you'll notice some distortion otherwise. It has a 5 ms response time.

The sturdy base features the same paint job as on the monitor, and allows you to tilt the screen up and down by 15 degrees. The anti-glare panel has a static contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 4000:1. Maximum screen brightness is 300 cd/m2. The viewing angles are 160 degrees (horizontal and vertical).

About static and dynamic contrast ratios, we'll repeat from what we'd said here (in December of last year): contrast ratio refers to the difference between the blackest black and the whitest white that a screen can display, and that is Static Contrast. Dynamic Contrast is a recent improvement in LCD technology. When a dark image needs to be displayed, the display unit under-powers the backlight lamp, and at the same time, proportionately amplifies the display signal. This, in effect, increases the perceived contrast. However, in the dark image, if there are patches of brightness, they may be washed out because of the under-powering of the lamp, and it's up to the display to calculate how much of those bright areas will be washed out. (Most companies advertise Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) as a USP since it's always higher than the Static Contrast Ratio. But it's not true that a higher DCR always makes for a better display.)

HELLO. I HAVE VX2255WMB THIS MONTH. THE DISPLAY IS SAME AS WMH EXCEPT COLOUE...IT IS BLACK. EVERYTHING IS OK ABOUT DISPLAY BUT I NOT HAPPY TO SEE BLACKLIGHT BLEED FROM ALL EDGES OF THIS PANEL. THIS IS DEFINATELY THE DRAWBACK WHEN U R WATCHING MOVIES IN DARK. OTHERWISE NO COMPLAINS IN DAY WORK. COLOURS ARE BRILLIANT AND PLAYING NFS CARBON, Q4, SERIOUS SAM2 IS TRUELY FUN. IF U R GAMER , THIS IS A PRODUCT 4 U. IF U WATCH A LOT MOVIES PLEASE FIND OTHER ALTERNATIVE.

I quite agree pooja, viewsonic service really sux. Avoid their monitors only for that. The service centre idiots are really doing a bad job.
