    Motorola Q9h Smartphone

Rohan Naravane, Mar 11, 2008 1400 hrs IST

Motorola's second iteration in their Q phone range has gone through a few evolutionary changes. How does it compare to the competition?

Slim and pocket-able, good QWERTY keyboard, portable charger included in package, 3.5G-ready

No Wi-Fi, price-to-features ratio not very good, no secondary video-call camera

The volume keys, a Back key, and a shortcut key are on the right

A microUSB port is provided for charging / data / headset connectivity

You must have noticed the MotoPEBL-styled device in the bundle. This is a portable charger with a high-power battery in its casing. It acts as a power reservoir, and can juice up the phone in times of need (almost two full charges). You can even use it to charge other devices (Bluetooth headsets, for instance) that use the miniUSB port. The device itself can be charged using Motorola's miniUSB charger.

The portable charger is a nifty add-on, and it fits in your pocket, too

it does have a secondary camera infront which can be only used for video calls.I have this phone since nov and its the best.I have installed amazing applications which give free access to over 50 international radio channels.push email is excellent and office functions are far superior to nokia e61i.Whats the point of wifi when it is only in limited pockets, data speeds are excellent.i have used touch screen phones earlier and after using this i think they are just to show off.q9 gives me ease of use and speed of use.I even have used e61 n i think q beats the shit out of it. Guys get over the stuck nokia mentality,my friends using n series are amongst the most frustated lot.

Install Mundu to listen to lotsa radio channels..A decent GPRS connection should solve the data issue, and can be an alternate for wifi...,else get a micro SD wifi card. Not sure abt the signal part.

Review Not up to the mark. The line "Connectivity Call quality was good; network reception was above average. I did face network drops a few times, but it's good overall." gives me ABSOLUTELY NO idea of the performance of this phone. Connectivity also depends on the provider, area of use, place of use, etc and numerous other factors. So, the above statement is really IRRELEVANT. Also "The phone didn't play back normal-resolution videos very smoothly; " does not tell me what resolution and what kind of videos are you exactly trying to play on this device. you have ONLY discussed the multimedia and camera capabilities of this phone HECK if i wanted one that does only that i would stick to a sony ericsson K750i. The battery you say is above average based on average number of calls and average use of multimedia features and some fiddling? come on give me a break. what is average? is your average and average for all users the same? do all people use the phone in the same manner? this statement leaves me clueless about the phone's battery life. Heck most phones last 3 days based on "average" use. This is a business phone and all you have provided are screenshots of some applications. NOT a WORD about the actual business usability since this is supposedly a business phone. I mean come on.. why would i spend 17K on a multimedia phone? Also there are loads other smartphones available that run the windows OS, why NO comparison to them? Isn't the moto Q a smartphone/business phone? I am very disappointed in the review
