Last time we looked at the previous generation of the GTA games; now for a look at the new titles.

GTA: Vice City
Scarface is one of my all-time favorite movies. It depicts the violence and mayhem that the '80s is known for. The lead character -- called Tony -- played brilliantly by Al Pacino is a power-hungry maniac who will do anything to be at the top of the gangster ladder. The movie is considered a cult classic, and for good reason.

Now GTA Vice City was heavily inspired by Scarface: the lead character in the game was called Tommy, he wore a floral print shirt, and used a chainsaw -- the same can be seen in Scarface. There are many more similarities; in fact, the game also features killing the main boss and the taking over of his business.

The depth and detail in GTA Vice City are a technical marvel even by today's standards. I remember playing the game back in 2002 -- riding bikes and performing stunts was my favorite activity. Tommy from Vice City could speak, which was a welcome change after the silent protagonist of GTA III.

Vice City had a main plotline, but it had loads of side-quests as well -- there were collectibles, assassination missions, taxi missions, and the cheats made the game just crazy. I remember using a tank and destroying half the city. Like in the previous games, you had a "Wanted" meter that would alert the police -- and the Army if required! One way you could avoid the police was by changing your car's color at a paint shop. There were stunt locations where you could ride one of the many bikes or cars and earn points. (One of my favorite locations was the Malibu Club; you could easily find a car there to perform your stunts.)

Guns and explosions figured heavily -- this was one action-packed game! You could buy businesses in Vice City to make money: an ice cream delivery business, strip clubs, a taxi service, and more. The game is popular even today.

The name of the protagonist in GTA: Vice City was Tommy, not Tony.

Car Stunts were in GTA3 and everything else (paintshop to avoid police, tank mission, taxi missions etc) mentioned in GTA 1 and 2 also!!!
