Layout and Design
The Gemstone design seen across the Aspire range of laptops looks good, and the laptop has an aura of "executiveness" around it. The layout of the laptop is pretty neat, especially with the ports placed on either side, making accessibility easy. The IEEE 1394 port, which is now seen on every laptop, is missing, though. The front of laptop houses the audio ports and volume control. The ports are placed in the centre for comfort.
When you open the laptop, you'll notice a fresh, complete white colour scheme and the sharp 12.1-inch display. The keyboard area of the laptop isn't the best -- specifically the keypad area. There are hotkeys to the right of the Power button to start the Media Centre app, Wi-Fi, browser, mail client, and Bluetooth, with LEDs below them indicating if they're on. To the left are the LEDs to indicate HDD activity, Caps Lock status, and Num Lock status. At the top left corner of the keypad area is a hotkey to activate Acer's proprietary Empowering Technologies app.
