    Philips 47PFL9532-98 LCD TV

Sudeep Naik, Mar 05, 2008 1526 hrs IST

Now if only the speakers were as good as the rest of it...

Good picture quality, good design and build, Ambilight, Perfect Pixel, ClearLCD, DNM, USB connectivity

Contrast ratios could have been better, USB multimedia port does not support movies or videos, speakers lack power

The first choice for most TV buyers these days is LCD. Whether it's much bigger than what they need or whether it's too expensive for them, they want it. So in an age when every second person is planning on getting an LCD TV and every fourth guy has one already, how do you differentiate yourself from the crowd? Simply put, you go the American way: get a bigger LCD TV! We at Techtree are always ready to help you fulfill your pathological craving for things like these. And so, we've reviewed the Philips 47PFL9532/98, a 47-inch LCD TV that promises lots of features and very good picture quality.

Design Dominating any room smaller than a royal court, the Philips 47PFL9532/98 sits on a sturdy (and heavy) glass stand, measuring 1157 x 752 x 117 mm (W x H x D). It has an anti-reflective 47-inch (diagonal) full HD capable Active Matrix W-UXGA screen set in a black piano-finish panel that runs along all the sides. Here's what it looks like at the back.

Just below this panel are the twin speakers, hidden by a grille. The 47PFL9532/98 has a 2-channel Ambilight on its sides, and has an array of connectors and ports at the back to plug in all the other elements you'd need to build a home theatre system. Specifications Screen size: 47.0 inches (diagonal) Contrast ratio: 1200:1 (static); 8000:1 (dynamic) Display Brightness: 550 cd/m2 Viewing Angle : Vertical 176 degrees; Horizontal 176 degrees Display Technology: Active Matrix W-UXGA Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080p Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Response Time: 3 ms Supported Video Formats: 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p Digital TV Standard: HDTV Compatible Number of speakers: 2 (8 watts RMS each) Connectivity ports: 3 x HDMI, 3 x A/V, Analog Audio L/R IN/Out, Digital Audio In/Out Side panel: Composite Video IN, Audio L/R IN, Headphone Out, S-Video In, one USB port.

we are planning to buy 32" LCD TV of either SONY, LG or Samsung. Lot of people are saying that the after slaes service is very very costly. They charge Rs.3000/- for visit and and parts are very costly. One would not encourage to buy 40K product if it has to malfunction after one year of purchase. Kindly guide.

I think this is a GHOST Review just generated hypothetically.Philips 47PFL9532/98 is about 50 percent costlier than Philips 42PFL9532/98 & Philips says its Philips 42PFL9532/98 costs 1,18,000. Mr. Sudeep where is this 47inch LCD available for 1,19,000 ?

(We at Techtree are always ready to help you fulfill your pathological craving for things like these.) Sudeep most techtree readers are normal ppl. not pathologically brain dead. Good prose will only enhance your review. Somewhere U have lost the plot about pricing of this so called review ? a full HD 1080p- 47 inch for 118k in India- only in your dreams. Please make background price checks before posting reviews done hypothetically. Incidentally where did U get the Philips 47PFL9532-98 LCD TV for review ?- last i asked Philips they only had 42inch for 120k.

47-incher, the Philips 47PFL9532/98 for 1,19,000 is practically a steal- is this street price ? or company price- because company web site states the price of 42 inch model at 1,29,000 for 42PFL9532-98.
