The LG "Art" Series of LCD monitors has been launched in India. As the name suggests, they are targeted at the design-conscious. Two models -- the 17-inches L1760TR and the 19-inches L1960TR -- are currently available.

The series -- namely, the LX60TR -- won the Red Dot Design Award. You can get an idea of what the awards are about here.

The focus is certainly on design, but performance is supposedly good, too. The on-paper specs state a 5000:1 DFC (Digital Fine Contrast) Ratio, and a 2 milliseconds response time. The monitors' specifications include a viewing angle of 160/160 degrees (H/V) and a resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA). R Manikandan, business group head (IT Division) of LG, said, "These monitors are superior to any other LCD monitors available in the world market."

The 17-inches model will carry a price tag of Rs 11,650, and the 19-inches model will retail at Rs 12,300. These prices are indeed on the higher side, and the premium is ostensibly for the aesthetic appeal.
