An iPhone challenger?

Sony Ericsson has, along with a couple of other models, released the XPERIA X1. This multimedia/communication combo phone has an "arc slider," which means you can slide the screen sideways to bring out the full-QWERTY keyboard. The rumor mills say Sony Ericsson has outsourced the manufacture of the model to HTC.

The front features a 3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display. In a first for Sony Ericsson, this model will run the Windows Mobile operating system with Outlook and Office Mobile. The user interface can be operated either by the touch interface, an optical joystick, a 4-way navi-pad, or the QWERTY keyboard.

Connectivity options come in the form of Wi-Fi, 3.5G HSDPA/HSUPA, and aGPS. A 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera sits at the back. The 400 MB of internal memory can be expanded via microSD cards. The XPERIA X1 weighs around 145 gm and is 16.7 mm thick. The phone is expected to get to store shelves in some regions around the world by the second quarter of 2008. No word on pricing yet.

Hi, X1 does not feature DLNA sharing like the C905. Is there anyway the same can be loaded or upgraded onto X1 to enjoy the same? please reply. ( DLNA support, See your photos on your TV, for example - just connect, sit down and enjoy) Even the i-phone has an adapter, which can be used to view photos and videos on TV.

i own a sony erricsson W910i walkman series cell phone.it has a particular feature of storing even those dialled numbers which are not saved..for example, when you start typing 984...on your keypad, it brings up a list of contacts starting with 9845 as you type the no. further, it narrows down your choices and ultimately the no..when you scroll through the list of no's the cell phone brought up on typing 9845..it also shows up a few other UNSAVED no.s..with this kind of facility, you can actually retreive those no's which you remember the first few digits only..does this feature also available on xperia??

I think this masterpiece would be priced somewhere between INR 32- 35k. Considering the features it provides, it's definitely way ahead of the iphone as well as the HTC Tytn and Diamond. This will be first in it's class phone to provide a complete experience (thats why the name XPERIA) of entertainment and communication. It's worth paying that much... However my fear is that, once you buy this phone, it will be very difficult for one to commute using local mode of transport (else this will be stolen within a week of purchase :))

i heard that this phone was actually planned for a feburary release but the phone its heard has a curse...here is wat i heard..."it seems the phone keeps on getting a call from an unregistered number...when the sim is put in...they thot of it to be a software glitch...but it was neva found out...the devlprs finally put dfrgn program to block it...it seems to be workin....but its a very weird ghostly looking phone..!!

Well the price is as much as 1000 USD, whereas iphone in US doesn't cost more than 500 USD. But I'm sure when iphone is launched in India it wouldn't be sold at 16000 either it will be to the tune of 35 thousands only

At last SE decided to go for windows a welcome sign !! if released should be the ultimate if 5MP camera, Wi-fi,GPS are included. Microsoft should provide os @ a subsidised rate to SE just as they do for HP. iI have postponed the idea of buying Nokia N82
