Mario: Plumbing Redefined
Mario is a plumber who ends up saving a princess from an evil fire-breathing dragon. Move over Rocky - this is what I call a great underdog story. This weird concept worked wonders with the gaming crowd who initially saw Mario in Donkey Kong - remember that game? Mario was the little guy who jumped over the barrels and rescued the girl from Kong. The game was a major hit and led to the creation of Mario Bros. Mario's younger brother is Luigi; he has all of Mario's characteristics - including a matching cap.

So Mario and Luigi have this superhuman ability to jump very high (and they have really strong heads); they use their jumping ability to scale high platforms as well as drop down on ugly creeps. They can even sprint fast and shoot after eating a special flower. Sure all this sounds dumb, but when you play the game, you just cant leave the controller.

Initially Mario was a 2D platformer game; the main objective was to save princess Peach. I suppose you guys remember the number of times we had to read this while playing the initial levels: "Thank you but our princess is in another castle." I so wanted to punch that female every time I read it! The game was a major hit, and is still played in various gaming cafes.

He has a hard fist. When he jumps and breaks bricks, he's using his fist, not his head. One thing I still remember is the intention to skip going up the creeper from level 4 to level 8. I would get stuck somewhere in a level that looked like it had no ending. I never actually managed to solve it. The best enemy I think are the ones with a black helmet-like cap and the tortoises throwing sticks!

Correction! Mario doesn't have a hard head. He has a hard fist. When he jumps and breaks bricks, he's using his fist, not his head.
