On Tuesday, Dell made its entry into the not-so-selling tablet laptop market with their Latitude XT. Like most touch-screen laptops, this model has a 12.1-inch display that rotates 180 degrees about its shell. But Dell's tablet stands apart from others due to some of the innovative features it has incorporated in the Latitude XT.

For instance, the screen can support input via the traditional stylus or the finger (much alike the iPhone). You can zoom in and out of content like one does on the iPhone using the pinch method. Plus, multiple fingers can be used to move around multiple items at the same time (this is similar to the recently introduced Surface table technology by Microsoft).

The Latitude XT can be configured either with a single or dual-core Intel Core 2 ultra-low voltage processor. It also offers optional power-saving and fast 32GB or 64GB solid-state flash drive. It also includes a low-power ATI Radeon video processor. Thus, the inclusion of these power-friendly features should boost the battery life. Dell claims that the XT would offer up to 9.5 hours of battery life. It comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista with Tablet PC support built-in. It's expected to be priced at a premium USD2499 (Rs. 97,500). Dell expects to begin shipping the Latitude XT by the end of the month in the US.
