The left side of the phone is clean with no controls, while the right side of the phone is fully loaded. The speaker of the phone is placed a little above a line of buttons. There's a Voice Recorder/Commands Button, a Text Edit Key, and volume controls which are much easier to access because they're slightly elevated. The first 2 keys, i.e. the Voice key and the Text edit key require special attention; at times I had to hold the phone with such strain to get my thumb to press the keys.

The lower portion of the phone has a pop-port connector and a charging port.

The back of the phone has matt finish, which at a glance reminded me of the leather tone on my wallet. Towards the upper portion of the back is the 2MP camera of the phone, above which there's Nokia branding embedded. The microSD card slot of the phone is placed under the battery cover and is hot-swappable.

The E65, being a slider, has its alphanumeric keypad hidden under the slide. When the keypad is revealed, you'll notice that it's quite narrow to use. Each of the keys have been uplifted in the center to make it more ergonomic to type with.
This didn't help me much as I found that using the alphanumeric keypad put my thumb through strain. The keypad has a very tactical build, but it doesn't work well with people with large fingers.
