Usability

This product from MapMyIndia is pretty good. It provides real time turn-by-turn navigation. All of this is done by voice commands and you can pick between US or UK English. You can point out a destination manually or from the listed Quick Point destination.

There are loads of options to choose from the provided Point of Interest like the railway station/metro, cinemas, hotels, restaurants, shopping center, banks, commercial buildings, landmarks, major landmarks, etc. You can even type out a destination if you don't wish to scroll through a whole lot of options.

You can even set home address, office address, and a whole lot of favorites like friends' places, etc. All of these get stored on the device, just select and you are all set to get directions to the destination of choice.

The navigator also seeks the shortest route. When I checked with it about including the traffic status on roads and offering an alternate route, I was informed that this facility isn't available at the moment; but you can choose to neglect a road that you know is always clogged.

Best is to buy some GPS device from ebay should be 5" touch screen running on windows 6 and should have SiRF V GPS chip for faster location tracking and processor should be 600MHz or more for faster processing of maps data. and install satguide maps on it. This is the best solution in india as on date.

I have ordered a mobile Map from MapMyIndia on 21-10-2010. I must say that the after sales experience with MapMyIndia is much below my expectations. I have not received any calls from MapMyIndia after placing the order and I have to track the status with them by myself. I waited for 3-4 days to receive the navigation system at my address. However still after 5 days nobody have a clue about the delivery of the parcel. I have ordered plenty of items online from other companies and all of them reached me within 1-2 days and also the agency confirms the address and keeps the customer updated about the status of delivery. However, MapMyIndia is way behind the others. I have been given the PAFEX Tracking Number: 620938592 which always show me the status as InTransit in some Delhi location. However the parcel has to reach Pune. V poor service.

Hi, I have been using my GPS which I bought from Mapmyindia for the last few months and I am very happy with it. I tried it several occassions and it promptly took me to the destination. The touchscreen is very pathetic. Also, most of the time the complete address doesn't show any result. We need to depend upon the POIs. I have only used it in Chennai city limits.

MapMyindia is hunky dory with nothing inside.... maps and GPS activation are pathetic.... I am the sufferrer... stay away from it... check for other alternatives for mapmyindia... do not waste your time fixing the device rather than driving to the destination... i tried so many times and always it failed...

A GPS device is now gaining popularity in India. Many GPS providers are now offering GPS services in India at quite an affordable rate and with lot of accuracy and some quality services. Just now also SatGuide has slashed prices to more than 50% on its navigation softwares and maps. The GPS services at such an affordable rate is a profit for the people as now they don't have to take their guest for a ride by disturbing their work. All they need is to just provide them a GPS device. Also SatGuide has reduced costs for most of their GPS devices and softwares. Also the 24*7 customer service provided by SatGuide is quite nice. GPS services now also make parents happy as now they don't have to ring to their children to know where they exactly are. They just have to enable locator softwares in their mobile phones and they can keep track of their kids. All I have to say that GPS will be a very helpful and useful device in coming 3-4 years.

Hello Everyone , I just bought a Map My India Navigator from Map My India website , and to my surprise , i got the GPS device in 3 days and i am very happy with it . I happen to use it almost all the time when i am driving and its now become a habit . All i wish was the volume was a bit high as sometimes i am listning to loud music and happen to miss instructions ...though Map My India has the best maps possible but i guess a lot of it can be improved over time as india is fast changing ...still these guys have done a great job . using the Navigator is like using my mobile now ...i have a bad sense of driving and its quite handy ... connaught place was one area i used to dread going ...cause iused to get lost always but now its like ...EASY ! :D over all a good buy i must say ... you guys can see the products on www.mapmyindia.com/navigator Regards Rajiv Sharma New Delhi

Can u download all ur stored POIs or routes etc -the history - that u feed-in (i.e. YOUR inputted data) into this GPS unit - back to ur computer? My Garmin Plus3 did not allow this (sob!). Worst still it had some storage battery - which when it went drained complete led to the loss of ALL my stored-in info, data in terms of the way points etc ... The vector-route of 500km should stay n not trail like an earthworm ... only then the route u took can be 'stored' and u can travel that route again in the future. In fact i'd love if it can store the history of the exact routes (much like all nos. dialled as done by a cellphone). How many waypoints can it store (My Garmin cud store the recent 500 of them). When is this device hitting the markets. I m crazy @ GPS ..........!

well for now with my SE W810i itself Im able to get something like maps and stuff called www.8motions.com... go to the site register free and get ur mobile with the software it detects when u connect to wap and www.8motions/m then u can actually see places like in google earth or map mode.... quite ok only hope hutch or vodafone doesnt jack me with huge bills... I guess this too needs external GPS device to be fully functional whereas some smart phones already have that facility...

Scroll through the entire article, so that Techtree can show one hundred advertisments in the process! And finally, you will know that the cost is 21,000 at the very bottom of the article. I wonder why TechTree cant put it right on top, along with positives and negatives...

JSS SATGUIDE is not as bad but yes they do not update maps as they promise. Specially the Pune map. PCMC area is just missing. Now it looks they are releasing the upgrade today eveing but there is a charge. Everyone gives the first upgrade free. I have req, them to let us first evaluate to see if it worth getting the upgrade before we spend on upgrade. But at the moment it is not worth recommending anyone as such.
