With the LCD market booming, here's a 20-inch wide-screener seeking your attention.

Good build, Decent picture quality, Headphone jack, Price.

No DVI-D input, Slight problem in the HCR test.

The LCD monitor fad seems to have finally caught up with the aam junta. I say this because every second PC config that is being handed out today (by local system integrators) includes one; and not just any, but at least a 19-inch wide-screener.

Launched recently, the T201WA is now one of the options available in the market. We got a sample for the same a few days back and here's how it is.

The Monitor

Standing tall (and wide), the BenQ T201WA measures 396.7x479.6x169.9mm (WxHxD) and sports a 20.1-inch WSXGA+ screen. The monitor features a silver matte finish while the sturdy plastic base comes in black.

2 speakers lie hidden behind a small grille at the bottom on the face of the monitor. It has an option to connect headphones as well (in case you feel like not disturbing anyone around).

The OSB buttons are lined up neatly just below the screen making them easy to access.

The back on the panel houses the Power, D-Sub and an Audio Out connector.

To start with the techspeak, the T201WA has a 5ms response time, it supports a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 pixels and can reproduce 16.2 million colors. It has a pixel pitch of 0.258 mm, contrast ratio pegged at 1000:1, and brightness of 250 cd/m2.

It operates at a frequency of 31- 83 KHz (H) and 56 - 76 KHz (V) and gives a video bandwidth of 25 - 165 MHz.

There's one thing worth a mention here -- the BenQ website carries a different looking monitor from what we have here but carries the same name. We have spoken to the people from BenQ and they have assured us that the T201WA selling in India is the one that is being reviewed here, and not the one that is mentioned on their website.

Yes, I agree. No point in buying a 20" monitor without a DVI port. You can get Viewsonic around 10.5k for 20" widescreen monitor.

HI Tony Greetings from BeNQ.Thanks for showing interest in our products, Regarding your querry, the model is available with one of my dealers in lamington road(I hope that Is close to Andheri). The price for the same would be 10700 You can call Mr Yogesh @ 9833229200. Regards Manish Sood Heres the response i received, it seems to have become 1000bucks cheaper. I really want to buy this monitor soon, for its 20.1 inches wide and furthermore, it supports dual analog inputs, it doesn't matter much whether dvi or analog, you can simply use a dvi2analog converter plug to connect. I own a geforce 8600 gt 500mbddr2 and i have 2 dvi connections on it, i think for this price along with standard windows sound speakers and headphone jack, this is a great buy. I can connect dual input via analog converters and get the 1680x1050 resolution at 75hz, Its really great for my work and especially i can view like 8-10 charts in one screen on this monitor in forex trading. Regards to games, i usually play at 1024x768 which is what almost 90% of cards can deliver its best performances, so again its more resolution than my games can handle with my lil bit expensive mid-range geforce card. I say this monitor is a exquisite for those who are into mid-range buys for work as well as play. Regards, Tony http://tonydtrader.com

The Best 20" LCD TV is BenQ costing you @Rs.21000/- Only. This is a TV with VGA Input. Quality Much Better than TFT / LCD Monitors.

For I would suggest samsung 204T(S-PVA panel) or 204B(TN panel). These both are not wide screen but it comes under professional series so better. HP's LP2065 is good very good too but HP's Indian site states the cost at 65,940 plus tax(http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/in/en/sm/WF05a/1090681-1122231-1122231-1122231-1122287-12326628.html) whereas in abroad(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176053 ) they sell it for Rs.16,200/-($405). It seems real crazy but you can check the link. General panel info- S-IPS panels are generally considered the best all around panel type, but they are more expensive and very few are made. S-PVA/MVA panels offer better color reproduction and viewing angles than TN panels, have slightly worse response times than TN or S-IPS, offer the best contrast ratios, may suffer from color shifting or input lag and have higher availability than S-IPS panels. TN panels are very cheap with fast response times but have inferior color reproduction, contrast ratios and viewing angles.
