Amazon.com has introduced its portable e-book reader dubbed "Kindle" that can wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers.

"Kindle" uses a high-resolution display technology called 'electronic paper' that provides a sharp Black and White screen, which uses ink, just like books and newspapers, but displays the ink particles electronically.

According to Amazon, "Kindle" reflects light like ordinary paper and uses no backlight, eliminating eyestrain and glare associated with other electronic displays such as computer monitors or PDA screens.

Weighing just 10.3 ounces, "Kindle" comes pre-loaded with all the required software, so that when it reaches users, it is ready for use. They need not load any software or do any kind of set-up.

The device is supported with a "Kindle" store having a collection of over 90,000 books from which users can search, browse, buy, and download content wirelessly, directly onto "Kindle". This eliminates the need for a PC or a Wi-Fi hot spot as well as syncing.

The downloading takes less than a minute, and the charges for the wireless connectivity are borne by Amazon, so users needn't worry about monthly wireless bills, data plans, or service commitments. A book will be charged around $9.99 (Rs 392 approximately), unless marked otherwise.

Apart from books, the "Kindle" store also has a collection of newspapers and magazines, as well as over 300 blogs on various genres. The monthly newspaper subscription would cost $5.99 to $14.99 (Rs 235 to Rs 589 approximately), and for magazines would cost $1.25 to $3.49 (Rs 49 to Rs 137 approximately); while the blogs subscription would cost $0.99 each (Rs 38 approx). All magazines and newspapers would include a free two-week trial.

You said "The device is supported with a "Kindle" store having a collection of over 90,000 books from which users can search, browse, buy, and download content wirelessly, directly onto "Kindle". It will need either wi-fi or some sort of internet connection, right?
