Indiagames has made the cut as one of the 200 short-listed finalists for the "Red Herring 100 Global 2007 Awards".

Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring magazine, said Indiagames made it to this list because of its outstanding achievements, and that the magazine is honored to announce Indiagames as one of the most promising tech firms in the world.

A jubilant Vishal Gondal, chief executive officer of Indiagames, said that being part of the elite list is an honor, and that they are extremely delighted to be among the best start-ups in the world.

Gondal said the recognition is significant, given the stringent selection processes and standards followed by Red Herring. It is also a reflection of the quality, innovation, and creativity exhibited by Indiagames' teams. Gondal expressed confidence that they would definitely make it to the winning 100.

Evaluations, done by the Red Herring editorial team, have been basis quantitative as well as qualitative criteria including financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration. The team whittled down a pool of 1,800 promising hopefuls to 200-odd finalists.

"The 200 finalists we selected from around the world are all excellent contenders," Dreyfuss exclaimed. They are exceptional companies, with smart and innovative platforms that attest to the importance of technology in today's global economy, he said.

Meanwhile, names of the 200 finalists can be found at: http://www.herringevents.com/global07/index.html. They will be celebrated at the Red Herring Global Event in Seattle (Dec 3-5), and the 100 winners will be announced at the Award Ceremony (Dec 4).

It was at month beginning that we reported Indiagames having announced the formation of the "E-Sports Council of India" (ESC-I), meant to be a governing body for e-sports.

Conceived somewhat on the lines of say what a BCCI is to Cricket, the ESC-I mission statement is to plan, regulate, and organize e-sports events -- whether at grass roots- or professional- level, across the country. The council would serve as a common platform for gamers, event managers, and sponsors alike.
