Ever since the launch of PlayStation 3 (PS3) in the country, Sony is trying hard to have a stronghold on the console gaming market in the country.

The company has been dropping the price of its PlayStation line-up not just in India but also across the globe. Last 2 months have witnessed serious price drops for the PS3, PS2, and PSP.

The PS3 is now available for Rs.29,990, while the PS2 and PSP prices have come down to Rs.6,990 and Rs.8,990, respectively. These price drops are in line with the European markets.

Sony claims that since the price cut, there has been an immediate jump in sales across the country.

Now, the company plans to cash-in on the festive season. And this time, the company isn't targeting consoles but the games that you play on those consoles.

Sony plans to increase the number of game titles officially available in the Indian market at reduced prices.

The Playstation games will now be available for a price starting at Rs.499. According to the company expectations, almost 50% of all the titles will cost below Rs.1,000.

That site is not updated yet. You can even call Sony and they'll confirm this. The 60gb ps3 is selling for rs. 30,000 (incl. tax). Now, Sony selling games for less than rs. 1000 is just for ps2 games. I mean it's simple, look ps3 games are printed on bluray and bluray games cannot be sold at that price, it's impossible and financially damaging to Sony. Maybe the price for ps3 games might come down to a range of rs. 2000-2500.

welll still the prices are not the international price. PSP is 169$ in USA which is RS 6700 and 60gb ps3 is now 499$ after price cut by 100$ which is again Rs20000 odd. stil the prices in india are very high.

Dude, 25K is for the 40gb ps3 version they're planning to introduce once the 60gb PS3s are phased out. And the price is not even confirmed yet, at this point it's just rumors.

"The Playstation games will now be available for a price starting at Rs.499." Is it for PS3 or PS2??? If it is for PS3 then it's a wonderful Diwali Gift for Gamers!!!

about time sony did something...if they could price ps3 games below 1k it would be a very devious move indeed and could probably change the face of the console market here.
