The New Hero
Guitar Hero 3 is releasing on October 28. A demo should be available on the 9th of this month. The basic gameplay of GH stays the same; there isn't much change to it. What makes GH 3 interesting are the new modes and track list. This time around, you'll be able to go online and compete with other friends or foes. One particular game mode should interest the fans of GH - the Battle Mode.

Battle Mode
This is a new mode, similar to the Face Off mode in the previous version. In Battle Mode, 2 players compete with each other while playing the same song. There's a concept of Star Meter in GH: when you have a long streak of perfect "note-hitting", your star power increases. In the previous versions, star power helped you gain extra points. This time around, you can use it to "attack the opponent". Let s look at the various attacks possible.
Broken String: One string or Fret button on the opponents guitar won't work unless he taps it rapidly to fix it.
Difficulty Up: The opponent's song difficulty will be increased for a short duration of time.
Amp Overload: The notes will blur out, making it difficult to read them.
Whammy Bar: The opponent will have to use the whammy bar before they can play notes.
Steal Power: Steal your opponents power up.
Double Notes: Play double the notes.
Lefty Flip: The fret board will be mirrored.
Death Drain:Your opponent's Rock Meter will rapidly drain on its own.
