Apple's iPhone has a new rival in the 'Serenata' -- a joint effort between Samsung and audio specialist, Bang & Olufsen.

The 'Serenata' is different from most mobile phones in that it lacks physical keys: it has just a navigation dial at the top, and a 2.26-inch LCD touch screen below the dial. The navigation dial lets the user single handedly control most of the functions of the phone. The LCD is a 240 x 240 resolution, 256K color screen.

The phone is HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and 3.5G enabled, and supports Bluetooth and USB 2.0.

To cater to users' storage requirements, it has a built-in 4GB storage capacity. It comes with an in-built speaker, a music player that is compatible with most audio formats, and EarSet 3 stereo earphones.

In addition, users would get 'BeoPlayer', a PC application that helps them organize music files on the PC, and transfer them to the phone. Samsung 'PC Studio' lets users sync contacts, calendar, and to-do lists from Microsoft Outlook on their PC.

The 'Serenata' will come with a 4-minute demo to acquaint users with most of its functionalities.

The phone is slated for a launch in Europe by the end of this month. As of now, the company hasn't come up with pricing for the product.

iphone is an overpriced toy that most people don't need. Evident with instant discount weeks after launch angering millions who stood in line for hours to buy one.
