Build & Construction
The Philips MCD288 is a sweet looking system. The entire unit has a brushed metal finish. The system is such that you can place it in a shelf or have it wall mounted. The system's main unit and speakers are sleek, and it'd give a touch of elegance to the living room. The main unit has a black tinted glass, which covers most of the main unit. When alive, a dark electric-blue ring lights up, within which is the display. In the lower part of the glass, there's a line of buttons for source, playback, and volume control. The glass portion below the line of buttons is a slit, which slides down to reveal a few more controls restricted to FM tuning. Other than that, there are a couple of 3.5 mm jacks: 1 for connecting headphones and the other for AUX. The USB port is also placed under the slide. The USB port has the same dark electric blue light running around it. The default connectors are all placed in the back of the unit. If you were wondering where the CD/DVD tray is - well - there isn't one. The top of the system has slot for loading CD/DVD media into the system. And when you eject the media, this slot pops it out like a toaster.
