Lately, many people have been using software that, if I may put it subtly, enhances nothing more than the 'Wow' factor of the desktop. There are a lot of options for those who indulge in 'visual' and, at times, feature enhancement. DesktopX, StyleXP, and Konfabulator are some of the most popular applications designed to help you customize your desktop with wallpapers, themes, widgets, etc.

Although everyone likes to add some zing to their desktops, not all of us have the free time or the system configuration that would justify this drive to be unique. So, as a public service (like I always do), I went rummaging around on the Internet and found Shock 4Way 3D - an application that will not only visually enhance your desktop but add a little more functionality to it as well.

Shock 4Way 3D uses OpenGL technology to provide 4 virtual screens on your PC. It's especially useful for notebook users and those with small monitors. Now, multi-screen functionality can be found built into a lot of Linux distributions - but it's never been a Windows specialty. So, third party software like these that feature enhancement for the Windows desktop, have gained immense popularity lately.

Yes, and even lot better. Beryl is also another example through which u can do many customisation. And then also it will not take resources in linux.
