Xbox Live is a service to mankind in every sense of the word. It's the reason why Xbox reigns supreme over other consoles. I guess most of you already know about Xbox Live - but this feature is for the ones who don't. So! Xbox Live is coming to India - and this is big news. Xbox 360 owners in India have suffered long enough with Proxy settings, which made it impossible for some of us to go online. So people like me can finally now go online and kill more than just AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Gears of War.



Live in a Box
Xbox Live service provides one with many options: you can play with friends online, chat with them, download trailers, demos, videos, and much more. The interface is way too easy; you've to be an illegitimate child of Curly (Three Stooges) and Melody (Josie and the Pussycats), if you cant handle it. It opens up a whole new world of communication and gaming. Allow me to break it up for you. But before that, why don't we talk about a few interesting facts about Live?

Multiplayer gaming is the way to go these days; almost all the games that are released have a multiplayer mode. The Live service lets you go online and play with friends, family, or total strangers. Games like Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, Forza, and many more, are very popular online games. Live has a buddy list - like your MSN Messenger. Once you go online, all you do is ask a buddy if they want to play. Once you find friends and choose your game, everyone can start playing. While playing, you get peripherals that allow you to voice-chat with or IM your friends while playing, which make it a super cool experience.

Every Xbox 360 gamer would know of his gamer card: it's basically a representation of the gamer that includes your gamer's picture, your gamer score, and your Reputation. There's also a section called Zone. Now, when you go online your friends can access your gamer card and see what all you've played. Your friends build up your reputation, and the zone simply puts you in a particular group. The Live service helps you choose which zone you want to play. There are zones like Underground, Pro, etc - just suit yourself.

Arcade Games



If you're a simple gamer that wants to enjoy themself, then XBLA is just for you. Live arcade is where you can download arcade games like Contra, Pac-Man, and so on. These games aren't free, and you have to pay a small amount for them. This particular service is very popular, and till date as many as 45 million games have been downloaded.
